Peter the LopAdopted 9/23/99 - Left for the bridge 7/11/03 Click on any picture to see a larger viewThis adorable lops name is Peter. He was delivered to me on 9/23/99 and was on deaths door. When the "owner" brought him over, she told me he had not ate or drank in about 1 week and when she took him out of his cage and placed him on the floor, he didn't move at all. When he got to my house, he smelled beyond anything you can imagine, he was skin and bones, filthy, had seriously occluded front teeth and could barely stand.I gave him several syringes filled with water and took him directly to the vet. They clipped his teeth, gave him a shot of B12 to stimulate his appetite, put him on tetracycline and gave him sub-q fluids. With lots of love and care and feedings he is now doing so much better. These pictures were taken on Sunday 9/26/99 after being with me for only 3 days. He has done a really good job of getting himself cleaned up and is eating lots of food and hay and drinking tons of water. He can now stand up and move around on his own although he is still very slow and unsteady. When he is strong and healthy enough to be moved, Peter will go to a new home.9/30/99: Peter is doing 100% better. He is now jumping in and out of the bathtub on his own, eating like there's no tomorrow and running everywhere. He's gained a little weight and now has awesome litter box habits. This is pretty amazing since he has never had a litter box before and with as sick as he's been, he has managed to train himself to use it.Peter absolutely loves his papaya tablets. In these pictures, you can see the series of him trying to get one and then his success.I can smell my Papaya...gimme gimme gimme Oh, I gotta reach for it I got it!!!!
This next series of photo's is an adorable view of just how much fun a bunny is and how much they like to play
Peter the Lops Update: October 28th, 1999, Peter the lop was neutered. After having a few days of healing, we began letting him out of the bathroom to run around to see how he would do with Calypso. "Caly girl" as we call her has complete free run of the entire house and can go anywhere she wants. Since Peter's litter box habits have been so immaculate, we decided to see if he would be ok with Caly and if she would accept him.
Peter left for the bridge on 7/11/2003. We went downstairs one morning and he was gone, I have no idea what actually caused it.
