On January 8th, 2000, my husband Marvin and I set off on a journey. We
left our home in Ohio and headed towards Michigan. Our first stop along the way was to the
home of a woman named Linda who is with the Michigan Rabbit Rescue. I was going
there to pick up a bunny named Thunder that was the son of my Big
Bunny and Big Mama. Once I got there, I fell in love with a
pair of un-named bunnies. 1 was a male Flemish Giant that we now call Clyde (short for
Clydesdale), and a beautiful black shiny bunny now named Onyx.

Onyx is a very sweet little girl and loves attention. She was brought
in with Clyde and spent tons of time grooming him. Later, he started mounting her
and we discovered that Clyde was not neutered. We took Onyx to the vet on Tuesday
right after we got back in town with her. The vet shaved her belly and discovered
what appears to be a spay scar so I took her back home and was quite relieved that she was
not pregnant. Onxy became very vocal with Clyde every time he tried to mount her.
It was hysterical to watch him mount her and she would make these grunting noises
and she would use her paw and smack him on the head and push him and he would turn away
and go lay down. To reduce the stress on Onyx, we removed her from Clyde until he is
neutered but allow them short times each day to visit each other.

This picture shows our cat Cuddles getting friendly and rubbing heads
with Onyx.
We have now bonded Onyx with Harry, Fluffy, Peter, Sheleg and
Precious. You can see from these pictures how adorable they are together.
Please read Onyx's medical story and learn why it is so incredibly important
to spay your bunnies. Onyx left us on 9/15/00 and she will be forever
missed.
